A great dish hot or cold, and great as buffet or party and barbecue food. Lovely with salad.
Easy Sausage Plait
- 1 pask of puff pastry
- 500g sausagemeat
- 4 heaped tablespoons of chutney
- 1 small pack of sage and onion stuffing mix made up
Turn the oven on to Mark 6 or 180-200C.
Roll the puff pastry out until it is about 9inches by 12 inches. Put the sausagemeat down the centre of the puff pastry, then place the stuffing on top of the sausagemeat and spread the chutney on top of the stuffing mix. Using a knife cut slanted lines through the puff pastry from the sausagemeat to the edge of the puff pastry, cutting each strip so that it is about 1cm wide. Wet the outer edge of each strip with cold water then fold the strips up and over the sausagemeat etc, taking a strip from each side in turn. Pick the sausage plait up and place it on a baking tray. Tuck in any loose edges and then cook for 30 to 40 minutes.
