Many of our Christmas traditions are quite recent.

Early 1800s – there was no present or card giving.

1840 – Victoria adopted the germanic tradition of having a tree , holly and a big meal as Prince Albert was German.

1843 Sir Henry Cole created the Christmas card.

1847 Christmas crackers were invented by Tom Smith a confectioner.
