Alternative Chocolate Icing

This uses dark chocolate and icing sugar but makes a glossy icing that is easy to make instead of ganache when you have no cream in the fridge.

  • 6oz dark chocolate
  • 4oz icing sugar
  • 4 tbsp hot water


  1. Put all the ingredients in a bowl over a pan of simmering water and mix until the chocolate has melted, stirring all the time.
  2. Spread over the cake once it has cooled and thickened a little.
